A combat oriented race with economic levels only slightly better than those of the Gorgoth. Requires good economy development to be able to play their combat advantages later in the game.

History

Turian

The Turians were once a peaceful and prosperous people whose empire encompassed well over a thousand star systems. All of this changed rapidly as they were plunged into war with an ancient species known as the Masumatra. After losing over 70% of their population to the Masumatra in 3 short years, the Turians had no choice but to concede defeat. They chose to serve their enemies, rather than to be exterminated. Through their service to the Masumatra, the Turians learned the art of warfare, and the technology needed to survive in their harsh new existence. A few years after the Turian defeat, the Gorgoths attacked the Masumatra Empire and the Galaxy saw one of its bloodiest wars ever. After a stalemate of 10 years, the Turians decided it was time to take their place as a dominant species once again. For years they had been secretly creating a fleet of warships, and as the Gorgoths attacked the Masumatra line of defense, the Turians struck from behind, and at last the Masumatra line crumbled.

Afterward, the Turians fled their homeworld, Earth, into the far recesses of space where they founded a new homeworld, Tur. As the last of the Turians fled the crumbling Masumatra Empire, the Gorgoth fleets encircled the remaining Imperial ships, and completely annhialated all signs of Imperial life. In response to the crushing defeat from the Masumatra, the Turians have spent much of their resources on defence, thus increasing their overall shield strength.

Losing to the Masumatra was a terrible blow to Turian pride. Not wanting to ever suffer such a terrible defeat again,in response the Turians have created the Nightmare, the strongest defensive ship in Space. In the presence of this ship, unique-affected ships "remember" the importance of a strong defense. The unfortunate aspect of this shield enhancing capability is energy is drained from weapons systems, lowering accuracy.
