Kreel
Level: Advanced
While the Kreel have a better economic technology level than some other easier to play species, in order to play Kreel to the best advantage
an advanced knowledge of ship building and the use of stealth is required.
History
The Kreel are the epitome of non-Darwinian adaptability to surroundings. Born on a harsh world with a chaotic climate, the Kreel advanced from a hunting and gathering culture to biological prodigies who can change their own molecular makeup to better adapt to any environment. The Kreel have no love of war, but are apt to defend themselves with a ferocity most attackers are wary of. Kreel Scientists have not striven for technological advancement, their goal to date has been primarily to remain the technological equals of neighboring species in order to maintain a balance of power in and around the Kreel occupied systems. Added to the fact most Kreel systems have no uniform environment, little incentive exists for any species to attack Kreel systems.
The Kreel have developed several unique technologies which have enhanced their stealth capabilities. By using these technologies on their ships, as well as cloaked mines on their planets, Kreel have a distinct advantage over other species in stealth capabilities.

The Matership is the stealthiest there is, period. In fact, ships in its cloaking radius are invisible for the first round of battle and are not targeted by enemy ships, since their location is unknown. The cloaking radius of the ship also increases the effect stealth has against fighters and missiles. However, the cloaking device used on the Matership has negative effects on weapons fired in its area, resulting in a decrease in amount of damage rendered to the enemy.
