Gorgoth

Level: Intermediate
While commanding the most firepower in the game, the Gorgoth begin with a very poor economy. Good economic skills are required to get Gorgoth through the early phases of the game in order to be able to take advantage of their superior firepower.

History

Gorgoth

The Gorgoth, a highly religious and militaristic species, believe Arkos, the God of Battle, gave the Universe to them. It is written in the Gorgoth Holy Grimoire: "The entirety of the Gift of Arkos will only be achieved through self-sacrifice and conquest". Thus, the average Gorgoth is powerful, fast, and trained from birth for battle. True honor is reserved for the warrior class alone.

The current patriarch of the Gorgoth Empire is a warrior named after the Battlegod, Arkos. The leader, Arkostrian, has more than doubled the territory controlled by the Gorgoth in the past two decades. It is believed he has been successful in uniting the various factions on the Gorgoth homeworld, and leads their fleets in their current campaigns

The Gorgoth are not the most inventive of species, but they do realize their shortcomings in the industrial and academic arenas, so they readily take advantage of the abilities their subjects have to offer. They are firm and capable masters of those they choose to conquer. They use the threat of continued expansion into Toag territory as leverage for a market discount from all Traders at the Toag Market.

Gorgoth lead all other species in destructive technologies. Their weapons cause more damage than any other species’ weapons. The academic community insists these weapons require a high level of maintenance, master craftsmanship, and training; many species have grown fearful due to this theory.

Galactic Reputation

Due to rapid expansion through conquest, most of the space-faring species view the Gorgoths as a plague on the galaxy. Many of the peaceful species are now stockpiling weapons and fleets in response to this growing threat

Ships

Unique Ship: Dreadnought
Basic Requirements: Nanotech and Design level 10
Additional Requirements: All weapons (beams, missiles, fighters) to research level 12
**Species Advantages: cost reduction of +15% for all weapons, +15% weapons damage bonus, +45%
***Species disadvantage: -5%shield- piercing bonus on basic shields

The aggression of the Gorgoths is reflected in their unique ship, the Dreadnought. This flying fortress is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage whilst protecting itself by using its powerful hull and shields in battle. Under the influence of such a powerful ship, neighbouring Gorgoth ships become more aggressive and transfer more power to weapons than to shields. As a result these ships lose some of their defensive power whilst gaining more offensive strength.
