Welcome to Space
Expand your empire by colonizing and conquering star systems, researching technologies, and having your industry generate credits, ore and production. As leader of your people, you get to make the decisions about diplomacy, research, naval ship construction and how battles will be fought. In computer game parlance this is a 3X game: eXplore, eXpand, and eXterminate - But, on a massive scale, with 300 or more other players in the galaxy with you, each wanting the #1 spot.
How to get started? Browse through the manual and get an idea how Space works. Be sure to think about what race you wish to be a part of before you create an account. Pay some attention to the information in the Quick Play Guide. Then come back here and continue reading the rest of the manual. You may also want to visit some of player web sites dedicated to Space. There you will find detailed information on the various species, economic strategies, military strategies, the fine art of diplomacy and more. Now that you know your race you will need to join a game that is starting. This is done by clicking on Join from the main login screen. During your account creation you will be asked several questions including the race you wish to play, your name (the handle you will go by in game) and the name of your empire.
You will also be asked for a valid email address. It is VERY important that you fill in a CORRECT address, because this is where your confirmation code will be sent (Don't worry such information will not be sold or leased to others). Until you validate your account using this code, you will not actually have a saved spot in the game, and could wind up waiting for the next game to start before you can play.
Once your signup is complete, you can go back to the main page and click on Login to get into the game. Give your login id and password and you will be presented with the main menu screen. From here you will be able to read and send messages, learn of empire wide events, visit the various message boards and, of course, play Space.
